In our drama production we used the stimulus of the young boy Aylan Kurdi and how a three-year-old Syrian boy of Kurdish ethnic background whose image made global headlines after he drowned on 2 September 2015 in the Mediterranean Sea had such a social, cultural and historical effects it had on millions of people around the world. Aylan Kurdi was a three year old Syrian boy who was forced out of his own country due to the growing power of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.) in Syria. Aylan Kurdi’s family fled in a dingy (rubber or plastic inflatable boat) inside were Sixteen people were in the boat, which was designed for a maximum of eight people, which was making a dangerous journey across the Mediterranean sea trying to get to the Greek island of Kos. The dingy capsized and the family was washed ashore on a Turkish beach. Only the father survived this horrible incident were Kurdi along with brother Galib and mother Rehana were taken to Kobanî for burials.
As this was such a sensitive topic we had to be careful in the way that we spoke and performed it our group consisted of Zakary S, Courtney C and Henry B in the performance Zakary played the part of the father Courtney played the part of Aylan Kurdi and Henry played the part of the mother and he also signified the border in a scene and he also played another Syrian desperate to find a home.
Scene one shows Zakary (the father.) entering the house and directly in front of him is his son (Courtney.) playing with his toy car on the left of Courtney their is the wife (Henry.) who you can see folding clothes and laying them on to a box Zakary then looks toward Henry and sees her folding their clothes for around 5 seconds Zakary says nothing and then he asks her what she is doing she replies with “we are leaving” this is then the trigger for the argument that starts between Zakary and Henry of why they should or should not leave.
Scene two is were the son stands on a block and says the lines “I remember, I remember it all, when the bombs were falling, when families didn’t know if they were going to survive the night. I remember how my parents would smile just to make me feel safe. I remember watching people struggle to survive I remember my family struggling to while the son is saying this Zakary and Henry are on either side of the box facing the back of the room.
Scene three is where we used the speaker to play the sound of guns and bombs going off this is where the father and wife (Henry.) covers there son by putting their hand on top of him to make a sort of arch to show that we are protecting him and after around ten seconds the wife drops to show that she got hit from a bullet and then the father (Zakary.) crawl around the box to see my wife’s dead body while I mourn over her death the sound continues and everything freezes and this is when the son (Courtney.) takes use one by one by one in the position for our next scene while he is doing this he is talking about exactly he can see and once he has put use in position we are ready for scene four.
Scene four is with Zakary and Courtney playing the son and father on a boat and Henry playing a sick man in this scene we had written a script that spoke about why and where we had to leave home and if mum (Who had passed away but the son did not of this and thought she left home.) was going to be where we were heading we also had used the speaker in this scene as it was playing the sound of the sea and the boat rocking to give a real effect.
Scene five is where Zakary and Courtney fall of each side of the book and crawl from one end of the room to the other and Henry turns into the kind of border patrol men while me and Courtney are crawling he says the lines “I remember when we arrived to shore and my dad told me to run, run and not look back.” Once we get back to the middle of the room Henry is standing there with a block in front of him Zakary and Courtney then start to push the block this signifies use trying to get to a safer place and Henry pushing against use shows how hard it is to get to safety once we reach the end of the room we all drop to the ground and start to cough to show that because of the lack of food hospitals and fresh water we are in desegregate need of help.
Scene six is where we use our costume which is item 1 because throughout the play Courtney (Son.) is wearing this shirt because In our performance we wanted one of the members of our group to wear this T-Shirts because it would represent how what people tell you or say about you sticks with you sometimes for life so having this T-Shirt in view for the audience to see will show them the impact that a few words can have on a person’s life for example on the shirts one of the quotes say “Dirty Immigrants.” this is of course a very rude thing to say too someone especially someone that has come to the country to better your life and live in a safe environment but when people that have no idea where this immigrants have come from or what they had to leave behind one of the most important reasons that we used this T-Shirt is that underneath the person will be wearing another T-Shirt that will have the word “Home.” on it in the next slide I will explain it further but another key feature of this T-Shirt is that it will have one small cut to each side of the collar son that in the final scene it will be easy to rip off and as I said it will then reveal the second T-Shirt meaning they have finally reached their destination but on the last minute of the play the character wearing the T-Shirt will fall of the block they are standing on to signify that there isn’t really anywhere safe for immigrates because they are ether being shot at or never truly accepted and abused, with the second shirt we are trying to show that Syrians struggle so much in their country that they would risk everything to get out of there even their lives that is why in our performance we tried to show the kind of lead up to having to leave your own home because it is to dangerous to live there and the different approaches to leaving for example in the case of a young boy called Aylan Kurdi and his family they risked everything to escape taking a dingy that could take a maximum of eight people yet had sixteen people on showing how desperate people were to escape the dangers of war unfortunately on the (4 kilometers or 2.5 miles) journey the boat tipped and the whole of the Kurdi family died except the father a few hour later the body of Aylan Kurdi washed up on shore face down and a picture of this made global headlines for this reason when me and my group were thinking of a message for our performance we had to think about all the things that family’s all across Syria had and still have to leave behind and of course the main thing that all these family’s are leaving is their homes witch is why we had a character in our performance wearing this T-Shirt with the word “Home.” written on it and by the end of the performance we had the T-Shirt with all the quotes on it that I previously talked about.

For item 2 I choose to do a script that would be before the death of the mother and the first time they talk about leaving because it is to dangerous.
Act One - Scene One.
The evening, Mum and Son around the table eating dinner.
Son: Mum where is dad?
Mum: He should be home soon. (Little pause.) Anyway how was your day at school today.
Son: Well Miss White told use that we have to be very careful with
the toys because if we break them we wont be able to buy new ones.
Mum: Yeah well its a good thing that they are teaching you to take care
and respect your things.
Son: Mum?
Mum: Yes Son.
Son: Why are you and dad always shouting at each other?
Mum: What? When did you here use doing that?
Son: Yesterday when you put me to bed and you and dad started shouting
what was it about? Was it me?
Mum: No of course not, me and daddy where just talking about moving.
Son: Moving?
Mum: Yes your going to have a new room, new school and new friends.
Son: But I already have a room and a school and lots of friends.
Mum: Yeah but in your new room you can paint it any color you want and you can
bring your new friends over. (whispering.) And will be safe.
Dad walks in to the house and walks up to son and gives him a kiss.
Son: Daddy!
Dad: Alright son how was your day at school?
Son: Well we done some paintings and I did one of you, it's in my book bag.
Dad: Do you want to go get it now?
Son: Yeah (Son leaves the room and runs up the stairs.)
Dad: Honey.
Mum: Yeah babe.
Dad: Why are the suitcases out and the wardrobes empty?
Mum: Were leaving it's to dangerous here.
Dad: What, were?
Mum: We can take a boat to Greece and then we will see from their.
Dad: When did you plan all off this? Why haven't you ever spoken to me about this before?
Mum: Because I knew exactly how you would react.
Dad: Of course i would react like this I have lived in this house since I
was born, and their is no chance in hell that I am leaving because of
some cowards that call themselves terrorist.
Drama Costume.
In our performance we wanted one of the members of our group to wear this T-Shirts because it would represent how what people tell you or say about you sticks with you sometimes for life so having this T-Shirt in view for the audience to see will show them the impact that a few words can have on a persons life for example on the shirts one of the quotes say “Dirty Immigrants.” this is of course a very rude thing to say too someone especially someone that has come to the country to better your life and live in a safe environment but when people that have no idea were this immigrants have come from or what they had to leave behind one of the most important reasons that we used this T-Shirt is that underneath the person will be wearing another T-Shirt that will have the word “Home.” on it in the next slide I will explain it further but another key feature of this T-Shirt is that it will have one small cut to each side of the collar son that in the final scene it will be easy to rip off and as I said it will then reveal the second T-Shirt meaning they have finally reached there destination but on the last minute of the play the character wearing the T-Shirt will fall of the block they are standing on to signify that there isn’t really anywhere safe for immigrates because they are ether being shot at or never truly accepted and abused.
In our performance we are trying to show that Syrians struggle so much in their country that they would risk everything to get out of there even their lives that is why in our performance we tried to show the kind of lead up to having to leave your own home because it is to dangerous to live there and the different approaches to leaving for example in the case of a young boy called Aylan Kurdi and his family they risked everything to escape taking a dingy that could take a maximum of eight people yet had sixteen people on showing how desperate people were to escape the dangers of war unfortunately on the (4 kilometers or 2.5 miles) journey the boat tipped and the whole of the Kurdi family died except the father a few hour later the body of Aylan Kurdi washed up on shore face down and a picture of this made global headlines for this reason when me and my group were thinking of a message for our performance we had to think about all the things that family’s all across Syria had and still have to leave behind and of course the main thing that all these family’s are leaving is their homes witch is why we had a character in our performance wearing this T-Shirt with the word “Home.” written on it and by the end of the performance we had the T-Shirt with all the quotes on it that I previously talked about.
